Obstetric dating and assessment
To determine whether ultrasound gestational age assessment is cost effective.Evidence: Published literature was retrieved through searches of Pub Med or MEDLINE and The Cochrane Library in 2013 using appropriate controlled vocabulary and key words (gestational age, ultrasound biometry, ultrasound dating).
Postnatal estimation of gestational age is an important prognosticator in premature or low birth weight infants in whom obstetric gestational age is unknown (such as those born to women who receive limited prenatal care or are uncertain about their last menstrual period). Eighty-five percent of infants were born before 37 weeks' gestation. We provide a dedicated and unique women’s imagery service. Our obstetrics services include: Nuchal scan, Cervical scan, Morphology scan, Growth wellbeing scan, Dating and Viability scan and Ultrasound.Often information on the structure of the baby is limited at this early stage.
The loss of a fetus at any stage is a fetal demise. The dating and viability scan is an ultrasound examination amd is usually carried out between 6-10 weeks of pregnancy.
